Cheese on Toast is a site dedicated to the local music scene  and incorporates a comprehensive gig guide for all the major centres, tours, latest music news and oh so much more.
You can use this site to scope the weekend's gigs or to check out the photos from gigs just been, but most importantly to discover great musicians before they become big.
The Appearance
www.cheeseontoast.co.nz may not be the flashest of sites but I would probably be more disappointed if it was. After all at the end of the day it is (rightly so) about the music and promoting local bands not wasting time and energy on making things look stylish. At first look things may be a little overwhelming but what it lacks in spatial layout it makes up for in character. With a whole heap of posters for up-and-coming gigs flashing at you and with the text a little small and unsightly you must persevere beyond the initial bombardment to see what a jewel this site really is.
The Content
Here I present to you everything you need to know about whose playing and where and sometimes even why. With info on album release tours and parties as well as the rundown on the haps for the coming weekend, this is the only site to go to should you wish to spend an evening rocking out to some of New Zealand’s finest up and comers. Aside from this main attraction there are also CD reviews of the latest indie tunes and local produce, interviews and up-to-date music news. All in all, it’s a great music site to become acquainted with your favourite new bands.
The Extras
There isn’t any way to join up to Cheese on Toast but if you’re in a band it’s the ideal place to advertise and you can list your gig for free. There is also an ordering service so you can get your hands on EPs of local bands that you won’t find in your local music store. For all you now-cheese-on-toast-addicts you can check out the Cheese on Toast show on Alt TV every Sunday night 10-11PM or have a listen on Fleet FM Tuesday afternoons from 3-5pm.
