These three books will set your heart racing. Two of them will put you off cheating for life, while the other gives raunchy tips for adults only…
The Adultery Club, Tess Stimson The Adultery Club is sexy, funny, and no-holds-barred. Believe me, if you’ve ever been tempted to stray, this is one book that will change your mind. In saying that, it’s not a preachy moral tale. The book is a raunchy insight into the life of Nicholas Lyon, a hot-shot divorce lawyer who is happily married to the beautiful and chaotic Mal. Nicholas thinks he has the perfect life, even if it seems a little on the safe side. Enter Sara, a sexually aggressive young lawyer who turns his life upside down. The great part about this book is that each chapter is from the perspective of Nick, Sara or Mal. I got really attached to all of the characters – yes, even the “evil temptress” Sara. This is a great book where nothing is quite what it seems. Macmillan Publishers, RRP $25.00
The Real Sex Kitten’s Handbook, Val Sampson A book that promises “consistently great sex”? I’m intrigued. Val Sampson is a leading health and relationships writer who reckons any girl has the potential to be a Sex Kitten – without losing weight or having surgery! The best part about this book is that it’s all about you. There’s none of this “Top Ten Ways To Make HIM Feel Good” stuff. Power to the women, I say. Sampson covers topics like using eye contact, body language, self esteem, talking to your partner, and the importance of touching each other (and not just in a rude way, although she does go into that). The funniest section is called “Exercising your love muscle”. Enough said. Southern Publishers Group, RRP $27.99
The Post-Birthday World, Lionel Shriver Lionel Shriver’s latest book occurs in two parallel universes. In one reality, the main character Irina has an affair with her husband’s friend Ramsey - a famous snooker player. In the other, Irina almost kisses Ramsey, but decides not to. The rest of the book details the aftermath of each of these realities. Think of it like the movie Sliding Doors with an older couple (and no Gwyneth Paltrow). Alternating chapters show these two realities unfold – often with the same scene happening in an entirely different (and amusing) way. Fans of Shriver’s award winning book We Need To Talk About Kevin will appreciate her elegantly controlled style. Plot developments are revealed slowly, in carefully constructed layers. This isn’t a book you can read quickly – it took me a while, but it’s worthwhile. HarperCollins, RRP $36.99
