About You
Save The World On Your Lunch Break

I’m a good person. I pay my rent on time, I let people in on the motorway and I’ve even started taking the bus or walking to save the environment.

Now that I have mastered these basic niceties I think I am ready to tackle the problem of world poverty.

Now of all the things I can give, cash isn’t one of them. But as I have found out, that doesn’t seem to matter, despite the problem being poverty, money isn’t the issue.

In fact you don’t even have to leave the comforts of your desk to make sure kids aren’t hungry, cramped up and without a decent pair of shoes. So saving the world here we go…

Option One: Email Helen Clark
Difficulty Rating: *
Official time to complete: 1 minute
Cost: Free
Now I think Helen is great but to cut a long story short there is a whole lot more the government could be doing to help our country’s poorest young nippers. Click here and you can cut and paste the letter provided in your email and send off to the  to the PM (address given). Easy peasy.

Option Two: Get a white MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY band
Difficulty Rating: *
Official time to complete: 4 minutes
Cost: $2
If they’re cool enough for Chris Martin then they’re cool enough me. Buying one of these bracelets is as simple as clicking here, taking a stroll down to your local Trade Aid store or calling 0800 400 666. If you’re not into white accessories you can always put it on your rear vision mirror, bag strap or key ring. The more people who see it the better so get creative!

Option Three: Shjushing up your website.
Difficulty: ***
Official time to complete: 3 minutes
Cost: Free
Now those of you who have your own website or fancy yourself savvy in the html department, this is your time to shine. Click here and you can put a virtual MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY band on your website by adding the tag on bottom of the page.

Option Four: Watch the cool ads made by famous people
Difficulty Rating: This is so easy it doesn’t even get a star!
Official time to complete: As long as you like!
Cost: Free
There’s some pretty amazing people affiliated with MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY and some even cooler advertising. It’s pretty spine tingling stuff and you get to watch Brad Pitt, can you really complain? If you want to win extra brownie points, read up on some of the problems these celebrities are trying to remedy. Note: These topics are always great to use as random conversation starters, making sure you come across intellectual and compassionate. Click here to view.

Option Five: Join MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY
Difficulty Rating: *
Official time to complete: 4 minutes
Cost: Free
This is a matter of popping in your details and waiting for the emails to roll in. Obviously beyond joining there is a lot more you can do like attending meetings, talking about child poverty issues and lending a hand where ever you can. The more people who take the time out to care, the better!

Ahh, didn’t even break a sweat, next time I've got a free lunch break I think I’ll tackle my budgeting skills, now that's a big problem!

Andrea
