About You
Cosmetics Drive

Like all of you, I love receiving presents. But as much as I love receiving, it doesn’t beat the awesome feeling of giving, especially at this time of year.

The reality is that there are people less fortunate than us in New Zealand and it’s particularly important to think of these individuals and families as we get ready for Christmas celebrations.

Every year the City Missions around New Zealand receive thousands of toys and clothes for children in need. This is hugely appreciated by many children who get to open presents on Christmas Day, but unfortunately teenagers and parents tend to be overlooked.

Sharon Buckland, saw this gap and got the ball rolling by circulating an email appealing for donations specifically for mums and teenage girls – requesting make up and body/facial products. In only a week this email has spread like wildfire and already there has been an amazing outpouring of generosity

So, what can you do?
Grab anything from your bathroom cupboards that you think might suit (items have to be unopened due to hygiene purposes and not past their expiry date!). Alternatively when you are next out shopping, pop an extra item in your trolley to donate.

You can drop them off to either Prue Scott at Auckland City Mission based 140 Hobson Street, ph 303 9264 or if you are on the North Shore, take your goodies to Sharon Buckland at Unit 17, 6 Airborne Road, Albany.

Although this has been organised within Auckland, other City Missions, Women’s Refuges etc. around the country are sure to be more than grateful for similar donations. Contact details for other centres include:

Wanganui City Mission 06 345 2139
Wellington City Mission 04 389 2033
Christchurch City Mission 03 365 0635

The deadline for Auckland City Mission is Monday 12th December. There are people standing by as we speak, ready to wrap all your donations before popping them under the Christmas tree. So organise the other girls you work with, get some product together and make a fellow nzgirl's day.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Michelle Wannan
