Apply a bronzer to the apple of the cheeks and also a dab to the tip of the nose to highlight the face
Finish with a nude gloss
Pin-up Starlet The 1940s and 1950s have been a key fashion influence for the past two years and with the rising popularity of vintage pieces for evening wear, it only makes sense that makeup trends follow. This is a great option for those wanting to invoke a bygone era and all the ideas of glamour, class and beauty that go along with it.
One of the keys to getting this look right is to start with a great base, if in doubt consult the nzgirl guide to natural skin here to help you choose your skin prep, concealer and foundation.
Apply a light grey shimmer powder using a dry brush to the inner corner of the eye above the crease, brushing outwards. Then apply a dab of white shimmer cream illuminator or eye pencil to the inner corner of the eye and blend accordingly.
Line the upper eye from the outside corner to just over half way with black liquid eyeliner and line the lower eye from the outside corner to the inside corner with a black pencil or powder eyeliner. Coat the lashes with two coats of mascara.
Choosing a warm red lipstick line and then fill in the lips with a lip brush If you have problems with your lipstick moving or wearing too quickly then colour your entire lip in lip liner before you begin.
Finish by applying a dusting of blush to the apple of the cheek and forehead.
Bright Eyes This season’s colour palette is a veritable rainbow of colour choices. From reds to maroons to greens, blues, browns and purples any hue is fair game. If you want to add impact to a plain black outfit, match the colour of your evening look or simply be a bit daring the bright eyes look is for you.
Prepare your base using tinted moisturiser or skin illuminating makeup. Remember to apply lightly and just enough to even skin tone as too much makeup will look heavy and overly made up.
The kind of product you use to colour your eyes is up to you, but if your are using a shimmer powder then prep first with a cream base to make sure you get the most vibrant hues and longest staying power.
Apply your eye colour from the inner corner of the eye to just above the crease of the eye and extend to just after the outer corner of the eye. Then line the eye with the same colour eye shadow using a thin lip brush. Finish eyes with a coat of mascara
Apply a light matt lipstick or lip colour cream to complete the look.
