About You
40 Hour Famine Fun!

The 40 Hour Famine is coming up soon (18-20 March) and if you’ve never done it before, now is a great time to round up your friends and sign up!

Just Juice is supporting the World Vision 40 Hour Famine and helping children in crisis, including children trapped in child labour and those affected by the recent tsunami.

There are lot of ways you can help
  • Forward this link to your friends and family and encourage them to get involved by visiting www.spreadtheword.co.nz
  • Check out the Just Juice goat – he talks! Click here
  • You can send a Just Juice talking postcard at www.spreadtheword.co.nz
  • You can add a 3 litre bottle of Just Juice displaying the special Famine sticker to your grocery list
  • You can sign up for the 40 Hour Famine at www.famine.org.nz
  • Or make a donation online at Click here

With your help, World Vision can bring new hope to many families affected by the Boxing Day tsunami and support their many humanitarian projects around the world. Help us to spread the word….

nzgirl is getting involved and we will help you guys get through the weekend with some ideas on how to pass the time when you’re not eating or drinking…check these out:

    Customise your clothes:
Making clothes is a fun and creative way to pass the time and you’re sure to get so caught up in how cool you’re gonna look that you’ll forget all about food. Head to a Spotlight store, get creative with some cheap tees from Supre or Glassons (check out www.nzgirl.co.nz/style/individual for ideas). Or better still, grab a cool Famine tee from PostiePlus and dress for success!

    Watch some Japanese horror:
Have you seen The Ring? What about The Grudge? These are two films which took Japanese movies and remade them into English versions and shocked audiences with their special effects and story lines. But, like most things, the original version is always better so instead of thinking about how much you’d love a chocolate bar right now or that the growl in your stomach is getting louder and louder, scare yourself so much that you forget all about it.

    Paint:
Utilise all that knowledge learnt in school about art and make some yourself. Inspiration can come from anywhere and if you can’t paint characters to save your life why not try looking towards abstract expressionist artists like Jackson Pollock who dribbled paint onto canvas or Willem de Kooning whose bold use of colour made his paintings particularly famous.

    Make some music:
Ever thought that you could be a rock star? We all have dreams of greatness so why not fulfil them, even if it’s only in your living room. Hire Playstation’s Sing Star and squeal to your hearts content as you explore your musical mind.

You can also choose a different type of famine if you’re less keen on giving up food for the weekend!

  • No technology – Could you give up text messaging for 40 hours? Go without your phone, text messaging, computer, email, TV, Stereo or PlayStation, etc
  • Sports – Get off the couch! Do something challenging like a group 40 hour runathon. If you do a Famine involving sport make sure you eat properly
  • Themed – How would you cope? Live like a refugee in a cardboard shack and have only rice and water for sustenance
  • Customised – create your own unique Famine idea, check out www.famine.org.nz/faminechoice
