Good intentions abound at this time of the year, as we solomenly declare never again will we drink too much or smoke or call THAT guy. Here are the resolutions we know we won't be keeping...
I’m going to wear sun block every day of my life from now on.
C’mon, we know the first thing you’ll do when the sun finally comes out from behind the clouds is strip down to your bikini and head to the beach. We also know that you’ll be trying to catch up on all the lost days of sun.
I’m never drinking again.
Ha! Do you really think you would ever keep this one? Normally it’s made the day after New Years though, so doesn’t really count.
I will never let a man hurt me ever again.
That’s just a ridiculous one. Of course you will. Any kind of emotional involvement means that feelings come into play. And with all the good stuff, bad stuff comes as well. Plus, it keeps life interesting.
I will go to the gym religiously.
This kind of commitment will last for, hmmm, about a month. Then you’ll get bored of seeing the same walls, the same sweaty gym equipment, and get bored of seeing the tight, toned bodies of boys. Okay, maybe it’ll last a little longer than a month. I will commit more time to work/boyfriend/my family/anything I have neglected in the last year.
Old habits die hard and it’s difficult to change them. Kind of like the gym. You’ll be committed for about a month but then fall into your bad habits again. Don’t feel too guilty about it. It’s just who you are.
Everyday I will look glamorous and fantastic.
Looking glamorous and fabulous everyday means more time needs to be added to your beauty regime. Which means getting up earlier in the morning. Which means less time for sleeping.
I will be a dress size smaller this time next year.
C’mon. Do you really think you’re gonna keep this one? And even if you do, do you really think you should be keeping this one? Do you really need to loose weight? Do you really need to put yourself through the added stress of worrying about your dress sizes? Maybe change this one to “I will be more fit this time next year”.
One of our girls has come up with the perfect solution to keeping New Years resolutions. Instead of dealing with the stress of having to keep to resolutions that are made on the 1st of January when we’re still drinking too much, eating too much, and, for some of us, smoking too much she makes them on the first day of February.
February 1st is the new 30 which is the new 21! Save all your resolutions for the 1st of February then you won’t have to suffer the guilt of breaking them in a time when you should be relaxing.
