When Era Face Foundation hit our shores I jumped at the chance to try it!
I was completely intrigued by the spray on theory and curious to see how this home version of the popular US ‘airbrushing’ technique would work.
The pack looked quite serious. A head-wrap was included to protect the hair from the spray. A big soft puff is also supplied for any blending you may want to do. Then there is the foundation, packaged in a large spray can, not unlike a deodorant can!
According to the guide, the trick is to shake the can thoroughly, so as to blend the water molecules with the foundation, thus resulting in a smooth finish.
As for spraying, they suggest holding the can 20cm from your face and spraying in a quick zig-zag motion down the face. This should only take 2 seconds.
Well, perhaps I haven’t given enough time to really ‘play’ with this and get it right.
I admit that I felt the need to blend the odd area of my face with my fingers after spraying.
Yet, regardless of my less than skilled approach to this, I have to say – the finish is immaculate. Though the finish is light and natural, it gives a flawless ‘doll-like’ appearance to the skin that I absolutely love!
This foundation is well worth the effort and I’m still enjoying the novelty factor of the new application! I thoroughly recommend you try it and the best way to learn the technique would be to go to a store where they sell it and let the assistant show you how to apply it professionally.
