nzgirl Chats to Carlos Spencer!

Carlos Spencer is one of a number of hunky All Black's, but he's the only one who spends a decent amount of time with his shirt off. Not that looks are everything - we want to know the real Carlos...which is why nzgirl had a chat with him...

Check out our interview...

Nzgirl: It has been a fantastic year for you. Firstly you won Xtra Super 12 Player of the Year at the Steinlager Awards, Auckland Sportsman of the Year and Maori Sportsman of the year. How important are awards to you as a player?
Extremely important! Although I would like to attend every ceremony the reality is I can't be everywhere however this doesn't reflect my gratitude for such awards. I would also add that I am part of a team and they are also a huge part of my achievements.

Nzgirl: When you first started playing rugby in the Super 12 and the All Blacks did you think your profile would be so huge? Remember that toffee pops ad!!!
Coming from a small country town like Levin I never thought I would ever have the profile I have currently, although I have always done things a little differently on the field and this more than likely promotes my profile further.
I can't and probably won't forget the 'Toffee Pops' ad as no-one will let me!!

Nzgirl: You have just come back from the Rugby World Cup, whilst it was not the result that you guys were after with the game against Australia, how did you find the whole Rugby World Cup experience?
In a nutshell "exhausting"
It's as much a mental journey as it is physical and there is never any let-up. We did manage a few extra curricular activities which made the trip that much easier i.e. Prince concert, private movie screenings etc.

Nzgirl: If tomorrow the rugby thing was over, how would you like to be remembered in the game and by your fans?
As someone who was never afraid to try anything new and/or different and someone who worked hard on and off the field and never gave up.
I have managed to forge a career out of a game that I love to play and for that I feel privileged and proud. Hopefully my fans will remember me as being loyal and successful.

Nzgirl: What was the idea behind www.carlosspencer.com and also what can we expect to see on it in the coming months?
To find out what (if any) interest might reside further than New Zealand and promote myself on a more global scale. Obviously to be more accessible to my fans is a huge factor also. Through my message board I can prompt and conduct conversations in my own time. Added to that I'm a pretty shy guy who doesn't always feel at ease talking openly to the public

As for what’s coming up... lots of new memorabilia and photos etc, and you'll have to wait and see!!

Nzgirl: What is up next for Carlos Spencer? and Are you ready for Super 12 with the Blues?
To enjoy my brief summer break at my beach house in the Coromandel and to get in a bit of rehab (exciting stuff huh?)

As for the upcoming Blues season......Can't wait!!!!!
