As Decks (my 11-week-old puppy) and I both bark and boogie to Augustino’s album on a rainy Sunday afternoon, we both couldn’t believe this was their debut!
The songs are so tail-wagglingly impressive; you’d think the boys had been strumming along for donkey’s years.
‘One Day Over’ drives listeners on an expedition, starting out hard and fast for this faster generation, then, sympathetically understanding all the head banging must leave you fatigued, sleepily slows its tempo towards some smooth and sexy acoustic jams. For this reason, the album is the ideal answer to slap in the CD player when your off for a wave, the first tracks get ya psyched for some surfing action, with the next tracks for your return journey, easing you into a relaxed concentration.
Augustino has the massive potential to further rocket New Zealand’s growing reputation as the home for no-bull rock. Their back-to-basics fresh approach leaves glam-rock crud, in their dust. Disturbingly addictive, this album is so full of sound texture, with a symphony of musical passion, backed with good old classic guitar distortion, and crisp, clear, meaningful lyrics, it’s easy to understand why everyone with an ounce of musical know-how are raving about Augustino.
Stand out tracks that are sure to have you amped include:
# Say
# In & Out of Nowhere
# You’re making me sober
Overall:
Have a listen, check out their impressive website, and get ready for some good times. ‘One Day Over’ is an album worthy of your listening pleasure. Oh its good to be a kiwi!
