World Animal Week – 4th October to the 10th of October
Welcome to World Animal week girls! Well most of us at some stage of our life have had pets - a dog, a cat, a rabbit or for those who are brave a mouse or even a rat. While most of us look after our animals there are some animals that are not lucky enough and are cruelly looked after or not looked after at all.
We as a nation and around the globe are lucky to have a organisation called WSPA who make it there mission to look after animals. So why don’t we help them out here is all the information you need to know, so you can lend a hand to animals that are not cared for adequately.
Who are WSPA?
WSPA stand for the World Society for the Protection of Animals. They are an organisation that works around the globe to fight animal cruelty and helping animals in need.
WSPA have been helping animals for over 50 years. WSPA is one of the largest and most effective animal welfare groups in the world.
WSPA acts on behalf of thousands of people globally, to stop the unfair, unethical and often illegal treatment of animals. There work extends to hundreds of countries enabling them to rescue animals, take action against cruelty and change hearts and minds (don’t we just love that).
”Show Your Stripes”
WSPA’s theme throughout World Animal Week is “Show Your Stripes”. By ‘Showing Your Stripes’ you can help spread the message of kindness not cruelty and help raise much needed funds for animals around the world!
So what can we do to help out WSPA and those animals in New Zealand and around the globe?
Fundraising is a fun way for you to get involved in WSPA’s work. The money that is raised goes towards rescuing more animals, building more sanctuaries and lobby more governments to bring about change!
Each and every dollar you raise will help us to help the animals. Check out how little it costs to help animals. Instead of buying takeaway you could be helping an animal get better.
What your donations go towards :
$10 - Could treat one of Bali’s orphaned street dogs for Mange
$25 - Could buy a comfortable head collar for one of Crete’s working donkeys
$100 - Could provide 2 days worth of medicine to a rescued South American dolphin
$250 - Could buy a whole month’s supply of food for one of WSPA’s rescued bears
