“A while ago, you registered to become a member of www.sms.ac, to send FREE SMS (text messages) to mobile phones. My name is Colleen and I am the SMS.ac community representative for Auckland. My job is to introduce you to fun people from Auckland.
Soon, I will send you photos of other interesting members from Auckland. You can send an instant message to their mobile phones - who knows where that might lead! I will only send you male members from Auckland. If you want me to change this, click here.”
The other day in my inbox I received an email about www.sms.ac – apparently I signed up for this free text messaging service a wee while ago, and to be honest I had forgotten all about it! It’s actually quite a good service.
You can send free texts to your friends (as long as they are signed up too) and since my last free text site - here - has gotten a little unreliable, its nice having a way of keeping in touch with my mates when I’m outta credit. God help me, I seem to go through $20 a week.
And before you ask – Cynical Flattie doesn’t have a cellphone, she doesn’t really believe in having one and it’s a pain when she is out and about and you can’t get hold of her (fume fume). Anyway, I’m so off track now I’ll have to dig a tunnel back to the point! Basically, sms.ac has started really working on community-building, hence having an Auckland/Hamilton representative.
Colleen (the rep in question) is in the process of getting people interested in texting others from the same city, and maybe getting some real love outta stranger-text.
So if you are interested in getting to meet new people through your cellphone, why don’t you sign up for the free service! Meanwhile, I think I’ll text Colleen and say thanks, but no thanks – if my hunny saw this email (“I will only send you male members from Auckland.”) he’d be a bit upset!
