Smooth talking and suave looking, ex-Fast Crew commandant, Dane Rumble, is hitting the charts again. Armed with darling pop sensibilities and good hair, this little heartbreaker (sorry ladies, he is taken) is keeping himself super busy.
With an album in the mix, a Jewellery store (www.culet.co.nz) to run and the up-coming Coca-Cola Bands on the Beach Tour, Mr Rumble in the Jungle casts serious doubt on the age ol’ men-can’t-multi-task myth.
Of course, he wasn’t always locked down to one lucky lady, and all this talk of summer tours, surf and sand turned to talk of the gorgeous beachy babes that accompany them. The summer flings. “I don’t know about any cute summer fling stories. Don’t get me wrong there’s definitely been some summer flings. Ever since my mum let me leave the house for New Years, whether it’s the Mount, whether it’s Waihi, every place I’ve been to there’s been a summer fling, apart from you know, recent years – now-a-days I’m a one woman man.” And while those summer romances are well and truly off the cards for the up-coming Coca-Cola Bands on the Beach Tour, there is a whole heap more to look forward to. “I think if people are around they should definitely come down and see the show. To be honest, the Coca-Cola Bands on the Beach Tour is going to be a memorable kind of summer experience. I was thinking about this the other day, you see those Coke ads on TV and they’re all about craziness and good times. That’s what it’s going to be like. And you get to see us live for free.”
Joining Dane on the Tour is Midnight Youth and new comers Ivy Lies. Both groups of which he thinks are pretty swell. “Midnight youth, I just can’t say enough about those guys…. And Ivy Lies, I’ve heard them play live a few times and they’re really, really good, really, really entertaining and they’re really cool chicks too.” And keeping on all things new, Dane will also be playing material from his up-coming album, his own rendition of the Coca-Cola song ‘Open happiness’ and generally just having a pretty sweet time. “I’m looking forward to touring, actually getting out and playing on the beaches. That’s kind of the height of any kiwi summer. The memories you create when you’re at the beach, having a good time with your mates and this is just the perfect environment.”
Fav summer location: It changes all the time, but I’ve got two favourites – Papamoa and Omaha. Fav summer memory: I have good memories of being a kid and going to the beach with my Nana and Granddad and having a picnic on Christmas day. I did that a few times and as a kid, that kind of stuff always gets branded in your mind. Fav summer activity: I don’t surf, if I’m ever out in the sun I’m normally just lazing around. I love getting in the water and I love the sea and going for swims and stuff. But I can’t surf, I’ve tried it and I’m a terrible swimmer, you’ll only ever find me waist deep. I mean I can swim, but I’m better at doggie paddling. Fav summer drink: I’d have to say Coca-Cola!
Liselle The Coca-Cola Bands on the Beach Tour is heading to The Mount, Whangamata, Gisborne, Nelson and Auckland. For more details and tour updates, check out myspace.com/cokenz. |
