In need of some serious beach time? Consider heading to Coromandel this summer. Coro is the perfect place to visit with a group of your besties because there’s something to keep all of your crew entertained. Here are our top places to stay and play! What to Do:
Wyuna Bay Head to the picturesque Wyuna Bay for swimming and sunning. This gorgeous beach is just a short 15 minutes drive from Coromandel township and is the perfect place for a day trip or to rent a bach and stay for longer - we don’t think you’ll want to leave. It doesn’t get as busy as some other Coromandel beaches so you’ll be able to nab yourself a nice patch of sand to stretch out on.
Coromandel Community Market Every Friday from 8am till midday in the centre of town on Kapanga road, you’ll find the Coromandel Community Market. It's great for local produce and goods (of a hippy style) handmade by the area’s laid back residents. Coro Music Festival If you’re visiting in the new year, make sure you book tickets to the Coro Music Festival on January 3rd. At just $45 its amazing value to see bands including Tahuna Breaks, Batucada Sound Machine and the wonderful Boh Runga. Plus there’s loads of yummy food and stalls to keep you entertained all day.
Where to Stay: The best thing about Coromandel is that you can stay in a wonderful secluded spot but still be just a short drive from the centre of town where you can stock-up on necessities. For a classic Kiwi summer break with all your friends, renting a bach is a good option.
For some bach options in and around the Coromandel township, try these. Our favourites include this luxurious architecturally designed Mahakirau Sanctuary which is surrounded by 600 hectares of native forest. A classic beachfront bach five minutes from Coromandel Township that’s really great value. Or this fabulous cliff top pad with amazing views at Wyuna Bay.
Getting There: Coromandel is an easy two and half our drive south of Auckland and is situated on the east coast. There are also a number of bus and tour opperators in the area if you'd prefer to be driven to your destination - check them out here. Or you could take a leisurely ferry ride (takes 1 hour 50 minutes) from Downtown Auckland - more information here. Stay Connected: Just because you’re staying in a secluded spot, it doesn’t mean you need to be excluded from accessing all the things you love online. When you book your holiday accommodation on Bookabach.co.nz within the Coromandel or Northland* you’ll go in the draw to win one of 10 Telecom mobile broadband XT T-Sticks valued at $99 each! The XT T-Stick pack includes a Telecom MF626 T-Stick, 500MB of data to use over a calendar month PLUS free sim and skins!

No matter where you travel this summer (whether it be in the Coromandel, to the Mount, or down South), you can stay connected thanks to the Telecom t-Stick, check out their coverage areas here.
