The hot lineup includes Neil and Tim Finn, Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga, Savage, Scribe, Hollie Smith, Elemeno P, Nesian Mystick – and that’s just to name a few.
The Auckland concert will take place at Vector Arena on October 19, and tickets went on sale today at www.ticketmaster.com. If you’re near Auckland nab yours now, otherwise hold tight for the soon to be announced Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin dates.
Paloma Faith
There's a huge bunch of female singers coming out at the mo – but amongst the crowd is one total stand out, the gorgie Paloma Faith. It’s not just her stunning looks and bold red hair that captured my attention, but her amazing voice. Her debut album Do You Want the Truth Or Something Beautiful was released this week and is jawdropping. Her husky voice, soulful tones, meaningful lyrics and the sheer emotion in each of her songs, definitely sets her apart from the rest of the pack. If you like Amy Winehouse and Duffy style crooning, you’ll love Paloma. If you hadn’t clicked already, she’s the diva behind the hot new track ‘Stone Cold Sober’.
WIN: SocialFlossie has 5 copies of Paloma Faith’s new album, Do You Want the Truth Or Something Beautiful up for grabs! Click here to get your name in the draw to win one of them!
Drop The Rate Mate
We all moan about how expensive it is to call and text in this country – especially when you’re calling someone on a different network than you; and now is the time to finally do something about it! Drop the Rate, Mate! is a campaign aimed at making texting and calling in NZ cheaper, by reducing the ‘termination rate’ (the fee you pay when you call or text someone on a different cellphone network). Currently key networks are charging around 15 cents a minute for calls, and up to 10 cents on texts, when the Commerce Commission says that a fair rate more like 4-7 cents for calls and 0.5-1 cents for texts – crazy!
The government is making a decision in December as to whether to drop the rate or not – so if you want cheaper calling and texting, make sure you find out more and sign the petition at www.droptherate.org.nz. Ramarea
