Who works here? What does a typical day look like for you? There is no typical day! I recently became a mum so juggling a growing business and baby makes for a busy but interesting time! I work from home so it is important that my work space is reflective of my personality but is also functional. I love my job as it is so varied, and I get to work in an area I am very passionate about - good quality food. In a typical day I can be doing anything from getting new packaging designed, to helping my business partner Jessie develop new pie recipes. I am out and about a lot meeting with customers and spend a lot of time at our factory ensuring that every pie is looking and tasting delicious. What inspires you? - There are only two of us that work full time in the business, I love getting together with my business partner Jessie to share new ideas, try delicious food and have a few laughs. Jessie is also a great cook and I am always getting new ideas for meals from her.
- Food TV, my favourites are Maggie Beer, Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.
- Beautiful food magazines, such as Cuisine and Dish, I love looking through them when I get some spare time.
- Good quality produce, we started our business out at the Clevedon Farmers Market and it is always nice to go back to visit and get inspiration. (Ed's note, find your local market in NZ here, or AU here.)
- My little girl Francesca. Jessie and I set up our business so we could work from home and be mum. It's nice to finish a busy day at work and be greeted by her lovely little smile.
What organizes you? - My iPhone, I don't know where I would be without it! It gives me so much flexibility, I can be at a baby play group and pick up an urgent email from a customer. It also has all my favourite music on it!
- That and my Kikki-k calendar and stationery, so functional yet so stylish.
Talk us through what’s on your desk at the moment?
1: River Cottage Poster. Jessie recently went to River Cottage in the UK and brought me back this River Cottage Beef Poster (£14.65)explaining where the different cuts of meat come from. Not only is it quirky but its useful too! 2: Flowers and Deco Light. Orchids are my favourite flowers and this one was a gift from my husband. I also collect Art Deco objects and my best friend bought me this desk light as a wedding present. 3: Cook Books and Pie Moulds.I love cook books, I read them in bed at night! 1001 Foods You Must Try Before You Die by Frances Case ($NZ 58.99, $AU45.99) is a favourite. It's important to keep yourself fuelled with healthy snacks while you're working, I always have fruit with me and the Eco Tanka (from $NZ17.90, from $AU17.90) is great as it keeps my water nice and cold is PBA free and better for the environment. 5: Design Work. I have borrowed Jessie's knives recently, they are amazing. I have to go and get them sharpened for her. 9: Baby Monitor. When Francesca is sleeping I try and get some work done and the Avent monitor is brilliant it has the temperature of the room on the screen and I can talk to her and play lullabies just by pushing a button on the handset.
