It’s all about: This long-running TV series stars a girl with special powers—it’s up to her to keep the vampire population down in Sunnydale. Struggling to be a normal girl, Buffy finds she has to juggle school, friends, family, and saving the world.
Quirky fact: Before they were turned into vampires, Angel’s real name was Liam and Spike’s was William.
Underworld
With hot vampires like: Shane Brolly (Kraven), Scott Speedman (Michael Corvin)
It’s all about: War has been raging between vampires and werewolves for centuries. It’s up to Selene (Kate Beckinsale) to hunt down the last of the werewolves, but when she falls in love with one of them, she must decide where her loyalties will lie.
Quirky fact: Kate Beckinsale met her future husband, Len Wiseman, on the Underworld set!

It’s all about: In 1791, down-on-his-luck Louis is given the chance to become a vampire and live forever. Telling his story in the present day, he recounts how he misses the companionship of humans and refuses to kill for food.
Quirky fact: Author Anne Rice was disappointed at the casting of Tom Cruise, but after attending a screening was so impressed by his performance that she wrote him a letter of apology.
Queen of the Damned With hot vampires like: Stuart Townsend (Lestat de Lioncourt)
It’s all about: After having slept in his coffin for two centuries, Lestat awakes in the present day. Bored, he decides to become a rock star, only to find that his music wakes the Queen of the Damned, who wants him for her king.
Quirky fact: Tom Cruise was asked to reprise the role of Lestat, but declined; Aaliyah, who plays the Queen, was killed in a plane crash shortly after filming.
 True BloodWith hot vampires like: Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton)
It’s all about: This TV series stars nzgirl Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse, a Louisiana barmaid who can read people’s minds. After vampires ‘come out of the coffin’ on national television, things change for Sookie when hot vampire Bill Compton walks into her bar…
Quirky fact: True Blood only premiered in the US at the end of 2008, but it quickly became incredibly popular over there. Anna Paquin also won a Golden Globe for it earlier this year. And season 2 is about to air on Prime soon (launch date TBC) - very exciting!
Van Helsing

It’s all about: Legendary vampire hunter Van Helsing has a mission: to rid the world of evil. He travels with his sidekick Carl to Transylvania in order to end the life of the powerful and evil Count Dracula.
Quirky fact: Hugh Jackman had hair extensions added for filming. During one fight scene, he accidentally broke an extra’s hand.
The Lost Boys With hot guys like: Jason Patric (Mike), Corey Haim (Sam)
It’s all about: When a mother and her two sons move to a small but troubled town in California, the boys come to the conclusion that it is inhabited by vampires. When Mike shows signs of vampirism, it’s up to Sam and his friends to save him—whatever the cost.
Quirky fact: The film title references Peter Pan’s group of ‘lost boys’ in Neverland, who always remained young.
Blade
With hot vampires like: Wesley Snipes (Blade)
It’s all about: Blade’s part-vampire blood gives him superhuman fighting abilities combined with the ability to walk in daylight. As vampires have infiltrated every major organisation, Blade resolves to put an end to their plot to take over the world.
Quirky fact: In one of the chase scenes, the film crew used cardboard cutouts of people rather than live extras.
