Take inspiration from the nzgirls and chase the winter blues away with some old fashioned retail therapy! From hot party dresses, a tropical holiday and sexy heels, check out the team's fav purchases for June...
Melissa, sales executive Bec and Bridge Camelot Tab dress, $275 from The Grand Social
The Bec and Bridge Winter 09 collection is effortlessly cool, chic and sexy –a definitive favourite of mine for the year. The Camelot Tab dress was an absolute stand out for me – I had to have it! An item that can be teamed with stockings and ankle boots in winter and then casual with cute heels or sandals in summer time (oh please bring on summer!)
Bonnie, commercial director Pink heels, £35 from ASOS With the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) Awards evening coming up in Sydney, I made a deal that I would recycle an old LBD…but allow myself new shoes. And with these babies, I couldn’t find a more ‘Flossie’ pair! ASOS is still my first stop for a fashion fix, even though I’ve been back from the UK for almost two years. At £35 they are NZ$90 (still very reasonable). I justified the shipping by ordering a few other things (oops). They arrived in just five days - AMAZING!
I’ve been suffering from a serious case of the winter blues, so my sister and I decided we had to escape somewhere sunny for a few days to keep sane! After a fair bit of research and some help from the lovely people at Air New Zealand we finally decided on a four night escape to Sonaisali Island Resort in Fiji (we did it ALL over email). $859 includes flights, accommodation, transfers, breakfast and all un-motorised water activities – very ‘girl-on-a-budget’ friendly! We’re not going until September, but I am already counting down the days. Bring on the sun and the pool bar (yes, that’s right!).

Doll House Moonlight dress, $79.90 from Lippy Party dresses are my biggest weakness when it comes to buying things I don't really need - but really want. I’m a June baby, so this month I used that as an excuse; of course I needed a new dress for my birthday! I walked into Lippy and spied this baby hanging on the wall, and fell for it instantly. I love the funky print and the strapless style; very party-esque but not too formal. Plus at only $79.90 it wasn’t too harsh on the bank account. Love!
Angela, support manager Steeplechase Shirt dress from Sabine
Sabine has closed. Can you believe it? I will seriously miss them – I have about eight really good quality Sabine pieces in my wardrobe, and I was hoping to keep adding to that collection! By the time you read this they will have closed – completely. And I know it’s a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, but worth taking this as a reminder that we really need to support our NZ designers if we want to keep this kind of quality boutique in business. My very last purchase was a Steeplechase Shirt Dress. This would have been a $400 dress but thankfully was reduced in the sale!
Tee Twyford, editor in chief Lambswool Mules (aka slippers!), $60.99 from Floozy
There’s no denying it, we’re definitely in the throes of winter and in my mind that’s definitely slipper territory! My previous pair of slippers had to be forcibly removed from the premises at the end of last winter, so I’ve been trying to make do with socks for a wee while. Until I overheard the lovely Kate (follow her on twitter here) from Floozy talking about her ultra glam, and warm Lambswool mules. At that moment I had to have them, so I did. And I love them!
Isla, content producer Boyfriend shift, $229.99 from Moochi Sadly, there is no-spending in Isla-land at the moment as the start of my OE is less than a month away (woop woop!). But a girl can dream - and right now I’m imagining myself rocking this boyfriend shift from Moochi with bare legs and gladiator sandals on a sunny Greek Isle or the Amalfi coast (yay!). t’s casual enough to chuck on over denim cutoffs and would look just as great with leggings and heels – the perfect versatile piece every traveller needs!
Alexia, senior campaign manager Bikram Yoga, $99 1 month unlimited special from EastWest Warming up in winter can be so pre-occupying, so last week I figured why not kill two birds; defrost and exercise by trying Bikram. Once you get past the panic of the heat, calm the mind by breathing and concentrating on postures, it’s 90 minutes of moving meditation that can only be good for you. Compressing those old injuries, on-going tension and letting the blood flow feels noticeably rejuvenating for sure. A physical and mental feat that left me feeling stretched up and out from the inside out…standing tall and breathing deeper. Woosah!
