nzgirl Quickies: Top 5 Exercises to Tone Thighs

Looking to get those toned thighs like Jessica Simpson or Fergie? Then check out nzgirlirl’s top five exercises for getting those killer legs!

1. Swimming
Not only is this a great exercise for your thighs, but your lungs and heart will benefit too. Swimming is a fantastic sport for people of all ages, shapes and sizes. Swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. The thigh muscles will particularly benefit from swimming and it’s a sport that you can do all year round!

2. Spin Class
Spin class is great for people who want an intense workout and fast pace route to toned thighs. Not only does this exercise increase your leg strength, but it also improves your posture and burns a lot of fat. In one 60minute spin class, you can potentially burn upwards of 1200 calories! Check out your local gym for classes.

3. Pilates
Wanna get killer legs like Jennifer Anniston and Madonna? Then Pilates is the exercise for you. This incredible workout routine will give you fantastic toned thighs without the bulky, body builder look. This is because Pilates works on the whole body rather than repetitions of the same muscles groups which is how muscles become bulky and big. Many dancers and gymnasts use Pilates to stay in shape.

4. Running
Running is an obvious choice for toning thighs. It’s a sport that requires no equipment and can be done by anyone who is prepared to put in the hard work. Running takes a lot of time to build up endurance, but if you are willing to stick to it, you will be reaping the benefits in no time. Running is great for losing weight, improving your cardiovascular system and of course, toning your thighs.

5. Power Plate/Vibra train
This relatively unknown exercise involves standing on a vibrating plate while performing different exercises such as squats and lunges. Power plate is great for improving muscle strength, flexibility, range of motion, bone density and stimulating blood circulation. It’s also good for relieving muscle pain and soreness.
