This month newlyweds Sarah and Dave let us take a sneak peak into their gorgeous wedding album...
Name: Sarah Edwards Partner’s Name: David Blaney Ages: I'm 33 and Dave is 30 Where was the ceremony held? In the beautiful gardens at Pounui Homestead in the Wairarapa Who designed your dress? I brought my dress from Brides on Thorndon and it was designed by Jane Yeh Who took your photos? Tim Wild wildphotography.co.nz
Which is your favourite shot? I love the shot of our whole wedding party under the tree during the ceremony. The gardens were so beautiful and the rain held off long enough so we could have the ceremony outside but it poured down half an hour after the ceremony finished so most of the wedding party photos were taken inside.
How long did you spend organising the wedding? One year - we decided to set a date and start to plan our wedding the week after our best friends' wedding because we had such a great time. So much so we had it on the same weekend a year later. Did you decide to change your name? I didn’t think I would change my name but Dave wanted me to so now I am Sarah Blaney. How did you spend the time leading up to the ceremony? My bridesmaids and I had our hair and makeup done in the morning at Turret House in Martinborough. My bridesmaids had organised bubbles and bagels for while we got ready. Turret House is so fantastic and we had a very relaxing morning. Then we went to a friend’s house to get our dresses on. Once the photographer arrived it felt like time sped up and suddenly it was all go. Driving to the ceremony the rain was so heavy that the ribbons on the car were sticking to the windshield. It was a bit nerve-wracking as I had no idea what the weather was going to be like at the ceremony. Luckily the rain held off and we got to have our outside ceremony.
What moments brought tears to your eyes? We had a very busy time with lots of people staying with us the week before our wedding. So our fantastic friends all chipped in and booked Dave and I a night’s accommodation and dinner at the White Swan in Greytown for the Friday night before our wedding so Dave and I could have some time together. When they made this announcement and handed us the gift I just burst into tears and was so overwhelmed that I hyper ventilated. I was already blown away by how much help our friends had been with travelling and helping us organise the wedding that the gift just felt like more than I could ask for. Any funny moments from the reception? We had Twisted, the best band in the world, playing at our wedding. They had everyone up dancing, including relations and friends that I had never seen dance - ever! We had dance-offs, a one hour dance marathon, Dave did a “remove the garter” dance and Dave’s young cousin got to play the drums with the band. He was fantastic and his mum was so proud. We didn’t stop dancing and having a good time until the band finished at around 3am.
Any advice for brides to be? The day goes so fast you just can’t remember or take in everything. My advice is plan as much as you can before the wedding but on the day just let things happen and have a good time. Flowers by? Moonflower Wairarapa Cake by? Our caterers Guten Appetit Catering Number of attendees? 92 What was your bridal car? Dave and my bridesmaid Katie work together and they both have the same company car, Mazda 6 station wagons. So I decided that to save money we would use them. Any Bridezilla moments? Yelling at Dave’s Mum “I wouldn’t be stressed if everyone just left me alone”! Furtherest travel for a guest? Dave’s younger brother and girlfriend came from England, Dave’s parents came from Perth and his older brother came from Western Australia. |
