Dear nzgirl,
I'm sending you this postcard from... London, UK
My first thought when I stepped off the plane was...
It’s not as cold as I expected, then two days later... it’s colder than I expected! My craziest night was... Christmas Eve, drinking at any pub that was within walking distance and open, ending up at a Middle Eastern restaurant/bar smoking apple flavoured tobacco from a pipe. Good night - not so good Christmas morning!
The coolest thing I did was...
Go on the double decker red buses all around London, just like on the movies and in the travel magazines. They are the best way to see everything and the commentary is awesome. Be sure to take a scarf, beanie, umbrella and earmuffs because it’s not the same if you’re not on the top level! Oh and also getting engaged on New Year’s Eve on the balcony of our apartment with fireworks setting the scene... unforgettable. 
The dumbest thing I did was...Not getting off the Underground in time, seeing my partner and his family on the other side of the door and not knowing where I was heading all alone... luckily his brother was an experienced Underground master and rescued me! The hottest bargain I found was…A cute little purple/gold fashion bracelet from a tourist shop, for £10.
It's so different from home because...It’s just a hop skip and jump to the other countries of Europe, there is so much history and all the old buildings in London are so unique.
I'd like to come back next time and... Explore more of Europe in the summer.
I'd recommend this place to you... Because it has everything!
