nzgirl Francesca has been living it up for the past few months on a student exchange at the University of Austin, Texas. From wild cowboys to James Morrison, check out her gorgie postcard to see how much fun she's been having...
Dear nzgirl,
I'm sending you this postcard from...
Austin, Texas
My first thought when I stepped off the plane was...
Yeeee-hah! I’m in Texas!!
My craziest night was...
At the James Morrison concert. Insanely great concert, we were RIGHT at the front and I got one of his guitar pics, and if that’s not enough, we got to meet him after the show! He’s the sweetest guy out and his latest album is amazing!!
The coolest thing I saw was...
The cowboys in Fort Worth! They truly do exist and talk with the coolest southern drawl. I got to see the cattle drive where they herd all the Longhorn bulls down the main street of Fort Worth, it was crazy! We also got the chance to do some traditional Texas line dancing at Midnight rodeo, a dance club for Texans!
The hottest bargain I found was…
A Jones New York Houndstooth Pea Coat, reduced from $420 to $140!
It's so different from home because...
It’s the live music capital of the world, so you can always catch a great band playing at any one of the 200 live music venues. Plus, over fifty thousand students attend the University of Texas at Austin, so the city is very student orientated, with heaps of events aimed at students. The food is mainly Tex Mex, so we ate mostly tacos and burritos while being here, and most Texans have never had lamb before - crazy!
I'd like to come back next time and...
Take my NZ friends!
I'd recommend this place to you...
Because the people are so friendly and welcoming, it’s the live music capitol of the world and the stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas! Love,
