Yummy Easter Recipes

Don’t rely on the Easter Bunny to spoil you this year! Pull on that apron, get crafty in the kitchen and whip up your very own batch of sweet, fresh and delish treaties! We share our favourite Easter recipes here… Hot Cross BunsThe traditional Easter treatie! Although most of you will probably and go and buy some, there’s nothing more satisfying than whipping up your own batch of piping hot and fresh buns, and smothering them with delicious butter… Bliss!1 cup milk 1/2 cup hot water 2 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons dried yeast 2 cups flour  100g butter 1/2 cups sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 tablespoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 teaspoon vanilla essence 1 cup mixed dried fruit 2-3 cup flour (warmed) Mix milk, hot water and sugar in metal bowl. Sprinkle in yeast. Leave to stand until bubbles appear. Add 2 cups of flour and leave to stand. Cream butter and sugar, add egg, salt spices, cocoa and vanilla. Combine two mixtures and add mixed fruit. Add warmed flour to make firm dough. Knead cut into 20 pieces and leave to rise till doubled. Press down, form into buns and cook 225 C for 10-12 minutes. Glaze with 2 tablesppons of sugar mixed in with heated 1.5 teaspoos of water.
A mbrosia Although not a super traditional Easter treatie – when you think about it, this delish desert is perfect for every occasion! 500mls whipped cream 1 litre of berry yoghurt 1 large cup of any berries you like (mixed frozen berries are a good option) 1 bag Marshmallows
½ cup chocolate pieces (For an extra kick try a chopped Moro bar) Grated chocolate to garnish In a large bowl whip the cream until thick, add the yoghurt and berries, then add the marshmallows and chocolate. Fold in all the ingredients together and chill for a couple of hours. Serve either in the bowl or you can spoon it into wine or martini glasses and top with grated dark chocolate and enjoy.
Spiced Jaffa Hot ChocolateSnuggle up and keep warm and toasty with this delicious Hot Chocolate recipe with a twist! 185ml Light & Creamy Evaporated Milk Pinch nutmeg Pinch cinnamon 1 teaspoon sugar 4 teaspoons drinking chocolate 1/4 cup orange juice Combine Evaporated Milk, nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar in a 250mL mug. microwave on HIGH (100% power) for 40 seconds. Add drinking chocolate and orange juice, stir until dissolved. Microwave on high (100% power) for a further 20 seconds until heated through. Stir and serve. Ramarea |
