Zac Efron isn’t just the cutesy kid from High School Musical, he is alllll grown up -and with the body to prove it! Plus, read on to find out how you can score a double pass to his new movie, 17 Again... While he may be playing a 17-year-old in 17 Again (a flick about going back to your 17-year-old self to change the decisions you made), Zac is 21-years of wise. As you’d expect to land a hottie like Vanessa Hudgens, Zac is quite the charismatic little charmer. Not letting all that new-found fame go to his head, Zac talked me through his new movie, getting punked and a doctor telling the world he was on steroids…
What does 17 Again have for both your older and younger fans? I think it’s a universal curiosity about if we could do over, which choices would we make differently? It’s the whole second chance thing. At one point everyone’s had something go wrong, something embarrassing happened (that) they’ve wanted to take back. What would you want to go back and change? Nothing really, I have no regrets. If I could go back though I would probably really finesse my high school years, be a bit smoother, less awkward, more confident. I’d probably know the answers to my tests! How much fan mail do your receive in a week? Depends where I am and what exactly is going on. When different films come out, and I’m going to come across sounding like I’m gloating, it’s substantial. How do you maintain a sense of normality in your life? It’s been engrained in me that no matter what happens, it could all be gone tomorrow. Very seldom do people make long careers in this industry…I sound like I’m a pessimist! What’s the funniest rumour you’ve read about yourself? At one point a doctor analyzed me in some photos and said I was on steroids, he said it almost as if it was a fact. My cousin called me and said that in a way, it was a backhanded compliment! How do you keep in shape? Just by staying active and going to the gym. I like to stay good physically otherwise it backfires. When rehearsals role around, I practically die. What was the story behind getting ‘Punk’d’ Ashley [Tisdale] set me up. It was for my birthday and she called me and said she had gotten me the best birthday present in the world. She told me her friend’s store was shutting down and I could take what I wanted. So she swings by and picks me up. Looking back it was so obvious, on the way I noticed she was dressed up real nice, there was a park right out front in an area in town where there’s never parks. I walked in and it was too good to be true. There was very expensive clothing everywhere, which I had to all give back of course. Did you get to keep anything? Virtually nothing! Quick Q: Fav band: The Shins Random thing about yourself: I’m good at hacky Personal motto: Do something everyday that scares you First thing that comes to mind when you think of New Zealand: Flight of the Conchords, I’m a big fan!
