We could all use a little expert advice when it comes to keeping healthy and looking beautiful – and who better to ask than gorgie mum and daughter pair, Sally and Jaime Ridge. They share their top tips for looking good here...
1: Keep smart about health issues
As a family we like keeping up-to-date with health issues. One that is really prominent and that is affecting us right now is the choice to have the cervical cancer vaccine. This is your opportunity to protect yourself against the HPV types that cause most cervical cancers. Girls as young as 20 can get cervical cancer and it only takes three vaccinations to be protected. Look into it by visiting www.oneforthegirls.co.nz.
2: Fruit and veggies are your best friends
We both eat fruit and vegetables all the time! They are full of yummy vitamins and minerals that keep you healthy and your skin glowing. Of course you are allowed the odd lolly as a treat – just to keep you sane!
3: Keeping an active lifestyle is key
Exercising is important, but we find living an active lifestyle is the best way to stay fit and healthy. Running around after children, or even brothers and sisters, is a fabulous way to keep toned and fit.
4: Natural is beautiful
Young girls these days wear far too much makeup! Having a natural look is so refreshing and so much more beautiful. Makeup is so bad for your skin and most makeup clogs your pores. Just stick to bronzer, mascara and ChapStick.
5: Say NO to preservatives There are so many additives and preservatives in foods these days, so we make sure that we take only home baking for snacks at school or at work. This means our snacks are fresh and free of all the yucky preservatives that are in foods to give them a longer shelf life.
