2 January Mangawhai Annual Summer Gala: Get into the summer vibe at beautiful Mangawhai. The festival is held at the Mangawhai Domain and features the usual entertainment, games, raffles plus dog obedience demonstrations, helicopter flights and a variety of food and drink available including cafés, BBQ, wines,local produce, candy floss, ice creams and frozen yoghurt. All proceeds go towards the maintenance of the community-owned and managed sports and recreational facility with newly-renovated pavilion, flood-lit astro-turf tennis courts and children's playground. 4 January Jazz on the Lawn: Relax to live music at Woollaston Wine Estates, Nelson. It will feature Mojave, a contemporary jazz quartet with sounds including Bossa Nova, Salsa, Funk, Regge, Samba and Swing. Mojave includes flautist and vocalist Trudy Lile who performed as one of the Jazz Divas in The Cellars during the 2008 Jazzfest.
