The Healthy Guide to Partying

We all know how crazy the holiday season can be! The food, the alcohol, your family. Overindulging during the Christmas and New Year party season is the norm, not the exception.

The key to remaining happy, healthy and sane however, is balance...

We are giving you guys a few of our favourite tips to help you party the right way this holiday season.

Eat right
Holidays and overeating go hand in hand; making a decision in advance to eat healthy will help you stay on the right track. Try to limit foods high in fat and sugar and include as much fruit and vegetables in your diet as you can. Keep an eye on portion size and stop eating when you’re feeling full.

Sounds simple enough but we all know how hard it can be, at the end of the day don’t be too hard on yourself, just try and balance it out.

How about water every once in a while..?
The holidays come along with more opportunities than normal to drink alcohol with friends and family.  Why not...?

  • Try to eat a substantial meal to increase your tolerance if you are planning on drinking.
  • Try and alternate water or non-alcoholic drinks with alcoholic drinks.
  • Avoid topping up drinks, so to not lose count of how many you have actually had.
  • And if you don’t want to drink, don’t. Encourage your friends to be supportive. Nominate yourself to be the designated driver.


Don’t forget about your boyfriend…
Or even if you are single, do you really want to wake up next to that random guy from IT? Didn’t think so but mistakes can happen!

Christmas parties, New Years, summer barbeques and after work drinks - all can get the best of us. The defences go down, you feel happy and carefree and after a couple of drinks you start to think that guy actually looks hot…
