We all know what it’s like when the Christmas rush comes in; time magically disappears and nothing seems to get done. But never fear! nzgirl is here to help you destress, keep happy and stay healthy during the silly season with our top five tips...
1: Take a decent break Even though we know the word ‘holiday’ implies relaxation and kicking back, so many of us don’t! It’s a holiday for a reason, even if you have a ‘to do’ list of 100, make sure you still make some time for yourself to recover and rejuvenate. You owe it to yourself! Whether it’s enjoying the sun rays, shopping for yourself or buying take out for dinner, don’t forget to do it!
2: Don’t forget to exercise Sure the temptation to eat the edible ornaments off the Christmas tree is much more appealing then going for a run, but the reality is, you don’t want to be facing the New Year with a big weight loss resolution. The holiday season gives you more opportunity to exercise, so make the most of it! Try out a summer sport like tennis or swimming. Otherwise, grab some friends and head to the beach with a frisbee, what ever works for you, just as long as you remember be consistent!
3: Drink responsibly
It’s fun to catch up with friends and let our hair down a bit during the holiday season, but it sure isn’t fun when we take it too far. The hangovers, recovery and embarrassment sure aren’t worth it. So by all means have a few drinks with friends, but make sure to eat appropriately while drinking, keep yourself hydrated with some water and don’t drink to excess!
4: Stay organised
Many of us are use to having our daily schedules planned 24/7, but when the holidays come around we get lazy with our schedules or there’s too much to organize. While you don’t need to plan your holiday schedule down to every minute, just try to keep a rough guide to make sure you keep on top of things. If it helps, get yourself a wall planner to map out all your ‘to dos'.
5: Make a list
Make a list of everything you want to achieve over the holiday period. This way, when you return to your normal schedule, you have no regrets over something that you were longing to do over the break. Make sure your list is achievable and that you plan it into your holiday schedule.
