Forget looking to the runways, the new generation of fashionistas are in cyberspace. With publishing becoming as easy as starting a blog and taking some photos, the amount of fashion blogs around these days is simply staggering.
But, amongst the masses are some true standouts… Anya dissects the style of three of her favourite bloggers; Nubby Twiglet, Queen Michelle and Gala Darling.
Nubby is a style savvy, nifty and talented designer hailing from Portland in the states. I found her blog through a friends and fell in love with the mix of design, Q&A’s and of course her amazing sense of style. With lots of mod overtones, a strong flair for bold colours and delectable accessories her look is one part gamine, one part modernist and a whole lot of individuality. I love the mix of high fashion, vintage finds, chain store buys and of course, Nubby’s impressive taste for footwear!
Style Tip: Buy quality accessories. We may not all have the money to snap up a Marc Jacobs or Miu Miu handbag, but kiwi label Saben is great affordable, investment level buying. Spend a little more when it comes to bags and shoes, and watch them last!
Queen Michelle is one part of a duo behind Kingdom of Style, a fantastic fashion blog that reviews shows, new collections, inspirations, amazing outfits, DIY projects and other fun tidbits. The blog has become a bit of an addiction of mine, and I love checking out Queen Michelle’s amazing outfits consisting of vintage and thrift finds, designer pieces, great hosiery and a good dose of DIY. I love the way she layers pieces and the details her lush outfits have!
Some Match It Buys
1: Collapse skirt $220.00 and Jaguar tights $80.00 from Alexandra Owen
The nzgirl gone global, Gala Darling is the pink haired style maven many of you will already know. I love Gala’s aesthetic, her way of seeing the world and her blog which is one part fashionista and one part child of the world. Gala isn’t afraid of shaking it up, changing her look or buying from chain stores, but you will also find a lot of really great classic pieces in her wardrobe too. And the girl is great with the makeup!
Style Tip: Gala has amazing skin, if you want to replicate start with your skincare routine. I love ZA Cleansing Foam with Vitamin E which cleans and refreshes skin without stripping it of its moisture, and of course eat right and drink plenty of water (Gala is pro raw food – check out her blog for more!).
