Window Shopping: Miijo

Online shopping is no longer only for those who wish to avoid crowds and incompetent sales people at all costs.

It’s just like shopping in the real world - if you know where to go, you’ll have a good time. You don’t even have to know what you’re looking for- online is fabulous for ‘window shopping’. No pesky sales assistant, no changing room chaos, and of course, no queues!

The length of your wait is only determined by the speed of your internet connection and their browser set-up. But, if you follow our recommendations or shop around, you’ll get a feel for what makes a really functional site and you’ll let your mouse do the talking.

This month we check out www.miijo.com to see how well it really rates in terms of online shopping.

What is it?
Miijo.com is an Australian online boutique store that stocks all the latest , ‘as seen on celebs’ hot products of the moment (that you can’t get in NZ!). They feature clothing, jewellery, eyewear, shoes and more from fav American designers such as Disney Couture, Kenneth Jay Lane and Lauren Moshi. This site delivers a little bit of star style straight to your door (with out the trip to America).

Why Visit?
Why not? This is an Australian store where you can purchase the latest, stylish, one of kind items from American designers! Their products are limited in quantity so you’re guaranteed that you’re purchase won’t be seen on every second person walking down the street (hello Aucklander’s!). As well as keeping yourself on trend, it’s also a great store to purchase gorgeous gifts for your girlfriends, especially if you’re looking to get them that something different you can’t find here.

Best Feature?
I love the fact that they give you a brief run down of each designer and brand, where they are from, who wears their designs, where you’ve seen their products (mag reviews) etc… They also have a BLOG which showcases reviews on items by designers and allows you to click through direct to an item you like for purchase.

Checking Out
It’s an easy three step process (especially if you have signed up an account with them). They accept most major credit cards (we like this one – an eftpos card that doubles as a credit card!) and prices quoted are in Australian dollars. Your package is beautifully boxed and arrives two to three days later, so you don’t have to wait forever to wear your new purchase! They also offer a gift packaging and message option, so you can send cute gifts to all your friends and loved ones away from home!

Bonus
The Miijo mail keeps you up to date with all the latest arrivals, special promotional items, sales and more (not good for your pockets though!). You can also purchase Miijo Money gift vouchers which are emailed to you for you to email on as a gift!

Where to start
I think the easiest way is to explore by using the navigational tool bar on the home page (this is by category; jewellery, eyewear, t-shirts etc and then broken down by brand), or click on any of the celebrity pick items that appeal on the home page! What are you waiting for?
