They say home is where the heart is and martini is where the party is, so this week we’ve found five of the best martini recipes out there!
So shake or stir things up with one of these delicious thirst quenchers this summer. Plus we’ve got two delicious martini recipes from The Pocket Idiot’s Guide to Martinis (RRO $25.00, Penguin), a must have for any martini lover! 1: Chocolate MartiniNeed I say more? Refreshing, indulgent and delicious! Ingredients - 60ml base spirit (vodka, light rum or brandy)
- 15 ml chocolate liqueur
- 15ml white creme de cacao
- Chocolate syrup to coat rim of martini glass
Coat the rim of the martini glass with chocolate syrup. Fill a cocktail shaker ½ full of ice. Pour in spirit, chocolate liqueur and crème de cacao. Shake well, and strain into a chilled martini glass. 2: Tart and Tangy MartiniGet an extra zing with this citrus treat, perfect for relaxing on a Friday night after a busy day at work! Ingredients - 120ml gin
- 4ml dry vermouth
- 7ml sweet vermouth
- 7ml of orange juice
- Dash of lime juice
- 2 very, very thin slices of orange
Fill a cocktail shaker ½ full of ice. Pour in gin, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth, orange juice and lime juice. Shake well, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with orange slices. 3: Manhattan MartiniIf it’s a big night out on the town than try the Manhattan to shake things up. Ingredients - 90ml rye whisky or bourbon
- 30ml sweet vermouth
- Dash of angostura bitters
- Maraschino cherry
Fill a cocktail shaker ½ full of ice. Pour whisky or bourbon, vermouth and angostura. Shake well, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with Maraschino cherry. 4: Vesper Martini*What would a martini list be without the famous James Bond martini? Ingredients - 90ml gin
- 30ml vodka
- 15ml blond lillet (an aperitif made from Bordeaux wines and liquors, with flavours of honey, orange, lime and mint, yum!)
- Lemon Twist
Fill a cocktail shaker ½ full with ice. Pour in gin, vodka, and blond Lillet. Shake well, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with lemon twist, voila! 5: Christmas Martini*Have even more reason to celebrate at Christmas with this delicious peppermint refresher. Ingredients - 90ml gin
- 15ml dry vermouth
- 7ml peppermint schnapps
- Mini candy canes
Fill a cocktail shaker ½ full of ice. Pour in gin, dry vermouth, and peppermint schnapps. Shake well, and strain into a chilled martini glass.
