Black Rats Are Taking Over!

Aussie label Sass and Bide’s Black Rats leggings caused a sensation when they were sent down the runway in New York a few months ago...

Although they were never intended for public release, the huge positive feedback from Fashion Week convinced the designers to release them for sale, and not surprisingly they sold out immediately around the world. The Black Rats have just been released again and are soon to be available from Superette in Auckland or online at www.mycatwalk.com.au. As well as the original black version, the super ruched leggings are now available in pvc, bronze, leopard and stirrup styles. I decided to conduct my own high fashion vs real life road test to see how wearable these leggings really are. I tried the original black version and found them pretty easy to put on (they are quite long and need to be ruched properly on your legs, but this doesn’t take long). I love that they are so different from the standard, boring black leggings and the cool seams down either side are a great feature. Although I was hesitant at first about how they would look on me (given I don’t have supermodel legs by any stretch of the imagination), they aren’t unflattering at all and I was really comfortable in them too.
I wore them dressed up with one of my favourite short Karen Walker dresses and heels, and then dressed down with an oversized t-shirt and cute mary-jane flats for a daytime outing. I have to say I’m definitely a fan. Black Rats may not be here to stay in the hot, summer weather but I will be legging it in mine this spring!
