Reality TV may often be referred to as ‘trash’, and therefore unfortunately slotted into the daytime TV schedule along with the infomercials, but let’s face it, often reality shows are helpful. Especially those of the advice-giving variety. Since this month on nzgirl is all about lifestyle improvements, we’ve brought you a list of great TV shows that are packed with advice to get you feeling better about YOU! Downsize Me, Tuesdays, 7.30pm, TV ThreeWho needs a qualification in nutrition with shows like this around? I seem to learn something new about food and fitness every time I watch this show. Too often we forget the importance of looking after our own bodies; for a friendly, practical reminder tune in and get some tips from the great personal trainers and nutritionists. Off The Radar, Sundays, 7pm, TV OneCaring for the environment seems to be on everyone’s minds at the moment, but comedian The Radar takes it just one step further with this reality show. He steps back in time and cuts himself off from the luxuries of life - like electricity, a proper house, quick and easy meals – in his quest to become ‘self-sustainable.’ Hilarious and extremely relevant, Te Radar shows us that going back to basics .jpg) may just as well be the way of the future. Fair Go, Wednesdays, 7.30pm TV One If you are big on human rights then you’ll love this popular show. They are constantly helping people on their quest to get what is rightfully theirs. Publicity is a great way to break down the big guys – and makes for interesting entertainment.  Dr Phil, Weekdays, 1pm TV Three An expert in solving relationship problems, Dr Phil manages to tackle tricky and complicated issues every day. Whether you’ve got family, marriage, parenting or just general dilemmas Dr Phil has an answer for everything… Oprah, Weekdays 2pm, TV Three If Dr Phil doesn’t fulfil your daytime TV needs then Oprah should do the trick! On TV3 straight after Dr Phil, Oprah not only tries to help everyday people with their pressing problems, but she also interviews celebrities and other interesting people. Current affairs and advice all rolled into one! Lotto, Saturdays 8.00pm, TV 2 Last but not least, we have Lotto. Sorry, I just couldn’t resist throwing this one in here – just imagine how much a few million dollars would improve your life!
