Are you an eco-warrior or an eco-worrier?

The message to be clean and green is every where these days - it's pretty hard to ignore! The question is do you have your ears wide open or firmly blocked? How eco-friendly are you?

Take our quiz to figure out if you are an eco-warrior, or an eco-worrier…


1: Where do most of your clothes come from?
a) Right off the ‘just in’ rack at the start of every season.
b) Mainly brand new, but sometimes pre-loved designer labels from TradeMe.
c) Some are brought brand new, but you also love trawling recycled clothing shops.
d) You rarely buy anything brand new; you prefer pre-loved clothes and where possible clothes made from organic materials.


2: In an average week, what does your transport consist of?
a) Car, always.
b) Mostly car, but you use the bus when convenient and coming home from town in the weekends.
c) Car on the weekends, but bus/walk to work during the week.
d) You don’t own a car. You walk, cycle or bus.


3: This winter, for warmth you...
a) Cranked up the heater 24/7 in each room as well as long hot showers and the electric blankie all night.
b) Put on an extra layer or got a blanket before turning the heater up, but still indulged with your electric blanket before hopping in to bed.
c) Have one heater in the main room, but a hot water bottle for the bed.
d) Only use a fireplace and just put extra blankets on the bed as well as a hot water bottle.


4: When it comes to your work lunch...
a) It’s always bought; coffee’s in disposable cups and sandwiches’ or sushi in plastic cases.
b) You try to get organised amd take food from home, but it only ends up being once or twice a week. You do use your water bottle a couple of times before throwing away.
c) You take your lunch/snacks and drink, but will still get your morning coffee from the local café.
d) You take a thermos of coffee, fruit and my homemade sandwiches’ in a tupperware container.


5: When doing your weekly shop at the supermarket you:
a) Just choose the same usual things, which is normally well known brand stuff. You don’t notice the packaging it comes in.
b) Some times you might pick up an environmentally friendly item, but you don’t go looking for it.
c) You always buy free range eggs, avoid things with heaps of packaging (like individually wrapped muesli bars) and buy bio-degradable cleaning products.
d) You don’t really shop at supermarkets. You prefer small shops with locally produced and organic products.


6: How do you feel about compost?
a) If it’s that stuff with slimy worms – it’s gross.
b) You wouldn’t mind one, but it’d be a bit of an effort and the stink would be unappealing.
c) You are just about to/or just got one. Slow but steady.
d) You have had one for ages and it’s great! You've convinced a couple of friends to have one too.


7: When it comes to rubbish you…
a) Have one bin where EVERYTHING goes.
b) Put glass/plastic into one bin and everything into the other.
c) Have a compost heap for food scraps, plastic/glass into one container, and the remainder rubbish into another bin.
d) You have five bins; food scraps, paper, glass, plastic and a small amount of other. You try your best to re-use the glass and plastic in my kitchen.


8: When it comes to being environmentally friendly, you think...
a) Someone else will take care of it, like the government.
b) You don’t think you can make that much of a difference, but it definitely plays on your mind and you find yourself turning off unnecessary electronics (when it doesn’t interfere too much with life.)
c) You are conscious of your responsibility to make changes, and do what you can where you can.
d) You have been living as environmentally friendly as possible for at least a couple of years. You consider your ‘eco footprint’ in everything you do!
