If you've been loading up with snuggly winter comfort foods and cosying up in front of the telly for the past few months, you might want to consider refreshing your body with a cleansing detox.
But what's it really like? We get the lowdown from one brave nzgirl who took up the challenge of a two week liquid detox. Here are some of her key insights and tips on the detox experience...
A two week cleanse is a difficult but unexpectedly spiritual experience.
A concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water tastes surprisingly good.
Don’t be surprised if all you want is sushi, sushi and more sushi.... and chocolate.
Watching Johnny Depp movies over and over helps to ease chocolate cravings.
When you don’t eat, you have a lot of extra time on your hands.
Not eating really kills your social life.
As appealing as losing a couple kilos is, there may actually be a point when you feel little too skinny. If you lose your boobs and your body begins to resemble that of a 10 year old boy, you’ll know you’re at that point.
When your insides are so clean, you never pass gas.
Doing a cleanse with someone you’ve just started to date is a very strange but interesting way to begin a relationship.
When observing others enjoying a good meal, you may experience dark fantasies of slapping food from their hands and overturning tables. Try not to.
Finally, be prepared for an awareness and control over your automatic instincts and habits with food, a new interest in how you nourish your body, an intensely satisfying feeling of empowerment, and yes, a lighter ass to go with your enlightened soul.
