How to Save for Luxe Items

Imagine being in the position to spoil yourself endlessly on wonderful luxury items... How would you feel having everything that you truly want and still being in a fabulous financial position?

Sarah van der Spuy from Accumen Fiancial Planning is our very own money guru! She shares with us her tips on how to save up for those extravagant, luxe items we all want, without getting caught up in debt and guilt...

Every person can have this; it is just a matter of getting clear on what you want and aligning your spending with it. Once you’ve done this, you will be able to have everything that you desire.

It’s important to create a spending plan and to be able to treat yourself to luxuries. When you have a spending plan in place, all your expenses and obligations are taken care of. You even have a savings plan in place for expensive items and for emergencies.

As part of your spending plan you can create a luxury-items savings account. Where a certain amount of money each payday goes into this account and it is for you to enjoy absolutely guilt free.

You can afford to keep up with the latest fashions and spoil yourself with facials and manicures without worrying that you’re not going to have enough money for rent and food. Everything has been taken care of and you can enjoy your hard earned money.

When you’re out and suddenly see something which causes you to simultaneously stop in your tracks and pull out your credit card, a great strategy to use is to create a “wish list”.

Carry a funky notebook around with you and everything that you see and absolutely must have that is over $50; write it down on your wish list. After a week, look at your list and decide if you really want the item. If you decide that you really do want it, you’ve had the whole week to build up the anticipation of buying your luxury item. Your luxury-items saving account will ensure that you have the cash to pay for
the item. Paying cash for something is extremely empowering!

This strategy is absolutely magic and works every time, as long as you’re diligent enough to do it. You’ll end up with everything that you want and in a very healthy financial position.

Why do you go to work each day? Is it to pay your bills and your debts? Imagine going to work to fund your exciting life and the things that you truly want. How much more motivated are you going to be to jump out of bed and start the day? We all have a choice on what we spend our money on. By taking control of your spending habits and aligning them
with what makes you happy, you will be able to get much more value out of your dollars.
