A little colour
Think of it as colour for the commitment phobic - a great statement coat in a bright shade instantly lifts black boring basics. Ashley shows us how to do this well, by choosing her bright coat in a classic shape, allowing her to not look too over done. When you look for a coat go with the same options; a style that is a basic and a colour that will make it pop. We opted for the same raspberry tone, but this season there are blues, greens and even yellows to play with.
Nearly everyone has a favourite pair of jeans so it’s probably a relief to hear that celeb style can be as simple as jeans and a top! Here the lines are simple - black skinny leg denim keeps the bottom half basic and slim line. The result? Ashley can reach for something a bit more flowy, loose and brightly toned on the top half. Whilst the geometric cut out detail is big for winter, we chose to get it in the form of a bag and instead copied the line of Ashley’s top with this great match it buy from Witchery. Keep the shoes flat and functional with a little something extra to finish this outfit.

A nicely cut shirt dress can work wardrobe wonders. The one Ashley is wearing is a great new take on an old classic – with the clever volume and drapery on the shoulder line. I love the dress but I think the boots are a little overkill with such a classic piece, so keep the footwear choices more toned down to make it work.
A little liner Arming yourself with eyeliner can be a dangerous thing, so before you attempt the smudgey liner look that Miss Simpson is famous for, get up with the play. Not all liner is created equal! For you to get the best effect you have to use two liners, crazy but true! A pencil(1) to create a defined line and a powder(4) to smudge it up a little.
Line the eyes like you normally would, then with an angle brush and a little powder eyeliner, line again just underneath your first line. Then take your trusty cotton bud and run this underneath the eye. If you get too smudgy never fear! Take some crème cleanser (2) on a cotton bud and run that under the eye to pick up the dusty bits. Once you have mastered the Ashley Simpson line and smudge move onto a colour. Blue eyes look amazing lined this way in a shimmery bronze(3).
