Work Wear By Body Type!

Are you pear shaped or petite? Hourglass or apple? No matter what your body shape Anya has put together a great new season work wear shopping guide to make sure you are never looking anything short of fantastic!

Not sure what shape you are? Click here to find out with Anya’s fool proof guide to finding your body type.

Pear shape
Goals: To balance your body and create a wardrobe of separates for mix and match perfection!
Look for:
  • A-line and straight skirts to balance the waist and hips. Make sure they hit just on or above the knee.
  • Shirt dresses with full skirts, to draw in the waist, leave a flattering impression on top and balance your form.
  • Blouses, shirts and tops that draw the eye up with delicate detailing.
  • Silks, satins and embroidery on top to add more form across the bust line.
Muted tones below to minimise and disguise.
Please buy: A great black A-line skirt and build your wardrobe around it.

Four pieces to rock your work wardrobe:
1: Lace Insert Blouse $95.00 from Witchery
2: Two Button Jacket $55.00 from Valleygirl
3: Ponte Skirt $90.00 from Witchery
4: Shirt Dress $90.00 from Supre

Athletic shape
Goals: To create curve with textures and prints that subtly show your feminine side.
Look for:
  • Curves, ruffles and textures to add bulk where there is none, and form where there is straightness.
  • Jackets and dresses that create a waist by nipping in, or with tailoring.
  • Pin stripes and patterns or interesting cuts which give you more curve.
  • If you are comfortable with your straight figure, emphasise it in a long lean tuxedo, and add softness with fun accessories.
Please buy: A shirt with softness, like ruffles or made in chiffon. It will work with everything.

Curvy/Apple shape
Goals: Create a simple, easy to wear collection of separates that slims the tummy and shows off your great legs.
Look for:
  • Tops and tunics which fall from the bust or feature more fabric around the torso – perfect for layering.
  • Items which lead the eye up to the face or down to your slim pins.
  • Skirts which show off your legs, or skinny leg pants.
  • Wrap or ruffle items which hide tummies and hips.
  • Jackets and tops that feature tie backs or nipped waists so that you can create a waist. These do not have to be buttoned up.
  • Long necklaces or long thin scarves that can slim the torso by brining the eye inwards.
Please buy: Some skinny or straight cut pants, you have the legs for it!

Hourglass shape
Goals: Show off your curves (in a way that won't distract your co-workers!) and find pieces that fit your body well.
Look for:
  • Wrap tops and dresses that complement your form and allow for the best fit.
  • Necklines that scoop or give a V shape without showing too much chest.
  • Items that nip, belt or tie at the waist.
  • A one button blazer to flatter your figure and work with separates.
  • Straight cut pants, straight cut skirts, slim line A-line skirts and high waist pencil skirts.
Please buy: A Scoop neck belted dress, you will find it incredibly valuable for summer and winter.

Petite shape
Goals: Add some length and height with cropped shapes and shorter lengths.
Look for:
  • Pants that hit on or just below the ankle - if they don’t hit there get them tailored.
  • Skinny or straight cut pants, preferably with no pockets.
  • Dresses and skirts that hit just above the knee (if not a little higher).
  • Heels and shoes that have no ankle straps to give your legs the illusion of length.
  • Mid height necklines that mean you lead the eye right from the top of the head to the tips of your toes.
  • Monochrome outfits, or little dresses and one pieces to give you length.
  • Cropped cardigans and jackets.
Please buy: A black sheath dress, dress it up and down with cardigans jacket and different hosiery – its fool proof.
